Secure Your Future: The Power of Wealth Management with Adam Koos

Financial advisor Adam Dante Koos shared his unique journey from aspiring surgeon to successful wealth manager. Growing up with a dream to follow in his father's footsteps as a doctor, Koos's perspective shifted after experiencing the day-to-day redundancy of the medical field during shadowing. Opting for a different path, he immersed himself in science-based pre-med classes at Ohio State University while excelling in the emerging sport of Taekwondo.

Adam D. Koós, CFP®, CMT® share a very personal and difficult experience - the story of losing his only brother - his first best friend - who was only 13 months younger. He had been laid off and lost his life insurance just weeks before he passed away, had no password organizer, no estate planning documents to speak of, no powers of attorney... nothing.

However, a sports injury shattered his dreams of reaching the Pan-Am games and pursuing the Olympics. The emotional toll led him to a period of depression and alcohol use, impacting his academic performance. Realizing he no longer had the patience for a lengthy medical career, Koos shifted gears with his father's suggestion to explore financial advising. Embracing this new direction, he became a "financial surgeon" navigating the complexities of the financial world.

After witnessing ethical concerns in the corporate finance realm, Koos embarked on an independent journey in 2004, aiming to prioritize client well-being over conflicts of interest. Over the years, he successfully navigated major market crashes and built a thriving practice. Today, Koos manages nearly $100 million in assets for over 300 individuals, couples, and 40 companies, and has guided the award winning Libertas Wealth Management to incredible success.

Reflecting on the challenges, Koos acknowledges the tough times, even resorting to selling items on eBay to make ends meet early in his career. Despite the obstacles, his commitment to treating clients like family and ethical financial practices has paid off. Koos emphasized the importance of being a fiduciary and discussed various financial topics, from retirement planning to estate planning and the pitfalls of certain insurance products.

While the interview touches on Koos's personal journey, it also delves into broader financial industry issues, ethics, and the significance of choosing fiduciaries for financial advice. Whether discussing industry challenges or offering practical financial advice, the dedication to making a positive impact on his clients' lives is evident.
